cupcake-9550

Kelly from Design Ties and I had an email discussion about a week ago in which I wrote that I’m a bit tired of flower photos. I love flowers and I’ve taken hundreds-upon-hundreds of photos of them. But right now, I’m just not at all inspired by flowers. In fact, my tulips are blooming this week and the lilacs have opened up in the past few days, and in a week or two the peonies will begin to open up. I adore those flowers but am not even tempted to take a single photo of them (the tulip and dandelion photos in yesterday’s post were taken last year at this time).

I’m definitely taking photos, whether it’s people, friends, food, or subjects that some would find far too ordinary. I guess I’m needing that diversity right now — the challenge of turning ordinary into something more than ordinary — or something like that.

Today I’m busy finishing up the post processing of the shoot I did on Sunday and then I have to drive to Grande Prairie: I’m one of the presenters for the Iskoteo Arts Festival. I’ll be taking my camera and hope to get some wonderfully ordinary shots!

  1. It is almost 1:00 am and that cupcake is making me hungry! I totally know what you mean about flowers, but I managed to get a whole bunch of them at my organic farm shoot.

  2. Your right.. flower photos are every where these days. But having said that… I must admit that I can not get enough of them and I definitely can not stop shooting them. After our long long winter … I am still in the wonder phase of summer and of flowers. 🙂

Mind you… the two photos here are so very appealing. I especially love the creativity of capturing the summer joy of bare feet and legs.

  3. Hi Diane,
Really like these two shots. The B&W of the cupcakes is a classic and the feet resting is like a page from a glorious happy summer day. great job!

  4. The cupcake shot positively made me hungry for something tasty and sweet which is not in my cupboard at the moment! The leg and feet shot is a nice novelty image with exceptionally nice skin tones. Well done.

  5. The cupcakes look yummy and I love the tones. (I hate coconut with a passion:-) You’ve succeeded in making me go for a piece of cherry pie right now though:-)

  6. I understand how you feel about the flowers. My husband constantly wants us to visit the national park near us to photograph different cacti. I’m quite tired of cacti and the desert. My head and heart are thinking about water, beach, forests, and other assorted miscellaneous things. Lately I’ve been practicing photographing food, a subject that definitely appeals to my tummy. Your switch to the cupcakes and feet are a fun departure from flowers.
