“At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.” ~ excerpt from “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon 1914
As in years past, I am particularly thinking of my mother who served as a WREN (Women’s Royal Naval Service) in WWII and her brother, my uncle Private Henry Althouse who was killed in the Korean War.
If you scroll down to the very bottom of the page at Canadian Soldiers, there is a photo and write up about my uncle Henry.
A lovely tribute.
this image speaks to me in a way that no other remembrance day photo has.
Lovely. Coming from a military family, I have so much respect for those who gave of themselves believing that they were making a better world for the rest of us. Your photo is perfect. 🙂
The war torn zone. Your Uncle looked so young in that photo. Sigh.
This is a beautiful silhouette of these branches and the web. Wonderful sky tones behind it too. Fine commemorative thought of those who have served.
