“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things.” — lyrics from Rogers & Hammerstein’s “These are a Few of My Favourite Things”
As many of you know, I began a year-long photography project last year. Well, I’m still working with it though, as I suspected may happen, have had to segregate the project into categories and sub-projects. As I had been working at selecting favourites, my challenge was which to select and should I pick based on technical merit or on feelings an image evokes. Selecting the favourites has become an ongoing issue so I’ve decided to compile a group of images as favourites from the previous month. I’ll do this as each month begins by going back to select the previous month’s nine favourites. I suspect I will begin to notice trends — but then again, perhaps not. Either way, the more important aspect of doing this selection will be to have all nine printed each month. There is no greater feeling than actually holding a physical print. We’ll see where it goes from there.
So here then are the nine images from December 2020 that I have chosen as my favourites — it was difficult holding it to only nine.
“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” said Ansel Adams. And so my lovelies, may you and your pursuits bring you immense joy.
it’s good to see what your favs are
That twisty, winding pattern in the wood of that root is lovely!
A great selection representative of December! I wish I could be out with more photographs under my belt. But at the same time, I truly miss the snow we haven’t received. I love photographing “winterscapes.” Having a beautiful “best friend” gave you great results.
