While the sun bursts awake from it’s nightly slumber and bald eagles soar overhead each morning, the spring songbirds remind us that a new season is upon us. It’s time we step in line and move forward along with them.
Although I’ve had a camera in my hands for several decades — more than I care to admit — I’m continually learning and growing. One morning this past week, I actually awoke thinking about specific details for a technique I have yet to try. Those first waking thoughts had me planning what may work well for my first attempts at in-camera double exposure.
After morning coffee, while getting ready to head out and attempt some of my first double exposures, I thought it was wise to try one or two before leaving the house. This was my first ever in-camera double exposure:
“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.”
Erich Fromm
Although not all my attempts worked, I did come away with a few I’m not afraid to show.
To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
Elliott Erwitt
While none of these may be print-worthy, they’re the result of letting go of certainties and embracing the bravery of experimentation and creativity.
So my lovelies, my wish for you this coming week is to embrace your own version of bravery.
there are very cool, diane.
i’m partial to the flowers over the piano keys
Gorgeous first try! I also love the cars and the one way double exposures. Excellent creativity, Diane.
Your first one is definitely a keeper! I love how the one way signage is centered on the Mercedes as well. Double exposure is one technique I never remember to try and rarely do I see a tutorial on it. I’ll have to try it when Spring blooms.
