Let the beauty of what you love, be what you do. Rumi wrote those words. So many of us can relate to and also practice that advice.
To segue from doing what we love to trying new things seems natural. Not only do I make photos but I’m also someone who enjoys the sparkle of trying new things or perhaps doing things a different way.
For years (actually decades) I’ve had this website and blog and have used it for sharing some of my experiments in photography, often using photographs to chronicle things I love or enjoy, and sometimes purely to share some of what I view as life’s simple beauties. I’ve taken thousands of images but many have never been shared, at least online. Although some have shown up here in the past. I’ve not included a central space or gallery for viewing some of the subjects I’ve photographed nor any of my projects.
Remember me mentioning that I’ve taken the course, Beyond the Shutter, by David duChemin all about what to do with our photos once they’ve been taken? He shared so many great ideas and I’ve been putting much of what I gleaned into practice. Today I put one more of those ideas into practice. For any of us who use Adobe’s Lightroom, it comes with a free online portfolio space. David suggests putting that capability to use.
Back to learning new things. I had no trouble learning how to use the online portfolio, except for how to make the font a bit darker. But one thing I have struggled with here on WordPress is how in the heck to make the direct link to the portfolio from the menu tab (up at the top). Instead, the portfolio button up top opens to a new page here on WordPress and I’ve had to simply add linked text to get you there. If I ever figure out how to get that button to take visitors directly to the link, I’ll definitely make that adjustment. {Update: Thanks to help from Pearweed I have made the link direct.}
So, without any further adieu, I’d like to introduce you to my online gallery. I plan to update a few of the galleries with newer images over time. Also, to add some of the other projects I’ve worked on.
I’m a little nervous about sharing some of these. I hope you enjoy what you see.
well done!

Hi Diane! Your online gallery is beautiful! And it’s a joy to watch you grow and share all that you are learning in the course with David duChemin. I know it’s hard to put your work out there, and I totally get how you might feel a bit nervous. But it’s so worth it to show your work. I’m sure that David talked about the importance of having a few trusted friends to critique your work. This part has been nerve-wracking for me. I really want the input and yet at the same time, I find it so uncomfortable. But I’ve been amazed at how much my work has improved through the suggestions of these friends (again, these are people I have carefully chosen and those who are more accomplished than me mostly). I’m cheering you on!
These are so beautifully textured, Diane.
I love the layout! The simplicity of the homepage really works well here. Seeing other examples of people’s sites, their homepage is a bit overwhelming with too many photos or photos that rotate so quickly giving it a very busy look. It also evokes a feeling that the photographer doesn’t know what to concentrate on. Your site, on the other hand, gives a quick view of your categories of photos to explore further and how to contact you. No overloading of the homepage, which is great!
