This is our friends dog Jackson. He’s quite a naughty boy and definitely does what he wants to do. He doesn’t warm up to everyone but he loves us. In fact, if he sees or hears us as our neighbour walks by, he squeals and whines and pulls like a bull on the leash until he’s allowed to come say hi and get scratches. Yet he will lunge, snarl, and snap at those he thinks he doesn’t like. On this day he had been visiting and suddenly noticed someone across the street walking past, ready to leap into action.
In the cooking group I belong to we had been on a day long food and garden tour up in the Comox Valley. While visiting the gardens of Clever Crow Sea Salt, Herbs, and Spices (in Black Creek, BC), this darling little flower was calling me to capture it’s sunny face.
It was an exceptional day visiting seven different producers, each with a focus on growing / using only that which is locally grown.
Last week as I drove by our village’s waterfront, I saw this woman sitting looking out to sea. It struck me so much, I pulled the car over, grabbed my camera, and walked back to where she and her little dog sat. It was windy with a pretty good chill in the air, though quiet. She didn’t turn back at all so must have been deep in thought. I took two photos, missing focus on the first one.
I ended up hanging around a bit anyway because the briny salt air was so fresh and invigorating.
But how could you live and not have a story to tell?
Fyodor Dostoevsky, from White Nights
Such delicateness captured in the flowers with the shallow DoF and Jackson sounds just like our neighbor’s dog, Lola! I love the layering of clouds you’ve captured in this view of the lake from the shoreline.
each of these images is superb in its own right. breathtaking, really.
